  • Career Opportunities – 2 Traineeship Positions

    Croydon Shire Council is seeking applications from highly motivated, enthusiastic and team orientated persons with a commitment to completing a traineeship in the following areas; Work Health and Safety and Early Childhood Education and Care. Both positions are for immediate start.

    The traineeship is a full time paid position that is combined with a formal qualification. The successful applicant will gain valuable on the job training and experience and upon completion a nationally recognised qualification.

    Eligibility - To be eligible to complete a Traineeship under the Queensland Government’s First Start initiative, you must meet criteria.

    All applicants must be:

    • aged 15 years or older and no longer at school; and
    • be able to meet citizen, residency and visa requirements.

    Applications are encouraged from young people (aged 15-24 years old) including those in and transitioned from out-of-home-care, long term unemployed job seekers, mature age job seekers (45 years or older), Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, migrants and refugees from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, people with disability, displaced Workers, women re-entering the workforce and veterans and ex-service personnel.

  • Croydon Shire Council is seeking applications from highly motivated, enthusiastic and team orientated persons who are methodical and organised. The successful candidate will autonomously manage and improve the purchasing process of Croydon Shire Council. You will coordinate the procurement of goods and services, stores functions and accounts payable to ensure the continuity of Council works and projects and ensure purchases are made cost effectively and consistent with quality, delivery timeframes and in accordance with Council requirements, policies, procedures and legislative requirements. Reporting to the Finance Manager, this position will be closely aligned with the Works Department and will take direction predominantly from the Works Manager regarding day-to-day operations. The position will support the Finance and Works teams with administrative tasks as required..

  • Casual Tourism Officer - Weekends only

    Reporting to the Manager Tourism and Marketing this casual position supports Council’s direction to promote the tourism potential of Croydon Shire, promote the True Blue Visitor Information Centre and Heritage Precinct in a professional and efficient manner and present a positive image of Council and Croydon. To promote the Croydon Shire region and local businesses to visitors and residents through the provision of accurate and comprehensive information.

    Skills / Experience Required: To be successful in the role, you will need a:

    1. A genuine desire to be involved in tourism and the promotion of Croydon Shire.
    2. High level of customer service skills.
    3. High level of verbal and written communication skills and ability to effectively deal with a broad range of customers.
    4. Be self-motivated and have excellent time management, planning and organisational skills.
    5. Ability to work under limited direction and supervision and maintain a friendly and helpful work attitude.

  • Croydon Shire Council invites applications are invited for the position of Swimming Pool Attendant for the Croydon swimming pool. This casual or part time osition may be a job share arrangement to suit the needs of Council and the opening hours of the facility which includes weekends.
    The person must be motivated and enthusiastic, have excellent customer service and communication skills. This position will be responsible for the high standard of supervision of the facility, efficient and effective day to day operations, provision of community activities, cleaning of amenities, storage areas, pool and pool surrounds, grounds and water testing.

    Mandatory qualifications include:

    • Pool Life Guard Certificate
    • Current First Aid and CPR
    • Current Working with Children Blue Card

  • Croydon Shire Council invites applications for the permanent HR Officer position to support supports Council’s Human Resources functions, including end-to-end recruitment and HR administration. The successful candidate will provide leadership, direction, support and deliver efficient, effective, compliant and confidential support to the Business Services team to ensure Croydon Shire Council meets its statutory obligations in a timely manner. This position will report to the Business Services Manager.

  • This position is being offered on a 3 year contract, with the remuneration package to be negotiated with the successful Candidate including superannuation, 5 weeks annual leave, relocation assistance and subsidised accommodation. 

    Reporting the the Workshop Supervisor and working alongside two Apprentices you will be responsible for maintaining Council's fixed and mobile plant and equipment and vehicle fleet.

  • Croydon Shire Council is seeking the services of an Early Childhood Teacher to work with the Croydon Childcare Centre. 

    The Early Childhood Teacher will need to work with the service for at least 20 percent of the time that the service provides education and care, this calculates to 8.5 hours per week. Under the Education and Care Services National Regulations the Early Childhood Teacher may be working with the service by means of information communication technology which may be calculated on a quarterly basis. The service is licensed for 21 approved places.
